MUMBAI: The Borivli office of MNS MLA Pravin Darekar was vandalized by unidentified miscreants on Sunday. Darekar said CCTV cameras installed at his office entrance were smashed with stones. "Around 7pm, five men on two bikes stopped outside my office in Borivli (E) and hurled stones at the CCTV cameras at the office entrance," Darekar said. Nobody was present in the office when the incident took place.
The Dahisar police said they had managed to obtain some footage from the CCTV cameras. The footage shows the miscreants and their bikes, but the images aren't too clear. "We are trying to identify the registration numbers on the numberplates of the bikes which can be seen the footage. We are also trying to identify the miscreants," said assistant commissioner Sunil Deshmukh.
The police have planned to increase the security in the area, deploy more patrolling units and provide permanent guards at Darekar's office.
A case of rioting has been registered at the Dahisar Police Station.
